Born and raised in the tropical islands of Trinidad and St. Thomas, Mikey had an abiding appreciation for outdoor life. An avid gardener and fisherman, his delight in these pursuits nonetheless paled in comparison to his love of family and friends. His greatest joy came from the many deep and lasting relationships that he shared with young and old alike.
Mikey served in the US Navy for several years and was able to travel the world. But it was Jacksonville/ St. Augustine that ultimately became his home and where he spent the rest of his life.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Joanna, son Danny, grandson Kaleo Danchan, adopted granddaughter Layla, parents Vishnu and Ramdoolarie, brother Rick (Sita), sister Devi (Franklyn), sister Julie (Chris), brother Harry (Sherry), brother Richard, brother Ian (Chrissy), many loving cousins and their families, and numerous nephews and nieces whom he adored.
The family is thankful to all of the kind and generous souls who contributed to his care.
Visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 1st in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. A Graveside Service, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 2nd in Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
