Dewey Richard Bryant, 84, longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away February 7, 2014. He was born in Greensboro, Georgia, son of the late will and Julia (Hutchinson) Bryant. Dewey was a teacher in the Duval County Schools for 37 years. He also was a well respected coach of baseball and basketball. Dewey was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He had a passion for his family, friends and the game of golf.
Surviving are his loving wife Carolyn, a son, Richie (Michele) Bryant, three grandchildren, Caroline, Sarah Grace, Ben, two brothers, Robert (Betty) Bryant of Helen, GA, David (Joyce) Bryant of Atlanta, GA, and many dear nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 10 from 2 – 3 pm at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel, 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. The funeral service will follow at 3 pm with burial following in Oaklawn Cemetery. Pastor Gary Weber will officiate.
