Dolores Mae White, 85 years old. After a courageous fight with a number of long term illnesses, “Dee” as she was known to many, died on Thursday, July 16th 2015. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and supporters, carried her through a grueling period of end stage renal failure. Despite the tremendous stress that dialysis took on her small body, she continued to help, encourage and comfort those around her, all the while knowing that she was losing her own battle.
Dee was born on March 16, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Mabel Dickmeyer Watson and William Watson. The oldest of three beautiful girls - her sisters, Shirley Denney, who resides in Indiana and Patti Long, who resides in Colorado. Known for her open arms acceptance with even strangers, some would be surprised to know that she had quite a spunky side. She would defend her loved ones with a fierce determination but never fail to offer a hug, a meal or a place to rest for the night. Among the things she enjoyed the most in life was her family, travel, all types of music and shopping for another pair of shoes or purse, just to name a few. She graduated from LPN nursing school at the age of forty and loved the profession. She later got her degree in Nursing Home Administration and spent many years caring for the elderly. After moving to Orange City Florida, she finished her career working as a nurse in the school system where she provided care for disabled and handicapped children.
Married for 61 years, Dee and Donald raised five children, Larry, Judy, Sharon, Steve and Mark. She never failed to put the needs of her children before everything else and her love for them was only surpassed by her love of the Lord. She was always happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones and her beloved pets.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mark A. White. Her surviving family members are numerous, but mainly include, her husband of 61 years, Donald L. White; children, Larry Wm. Bellmore, Judy A. Robertson, Sharon K. Medders, Donald S. White. Grandmother to eleven, Randy Pittman, David White, Elizabeth DeWandeler, Steven Lee White, Melissa Mathews, Mike Medders Jr., Delores Aragon, Katy Bellemore, Michael Bellmore, Brandi Nappi, Jennifer Rangel; and 20 great-grandchildren.
