Donald Roy Messer passed away September 16, 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida at the age of 73, with his loving family by his side. Don was born on December 17, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He began his Navy career at the young age of 17 and retired 22 years later at Mayport Naval Station. After retiring from the military he worked for US Foods for 20 years. He is preceded in death by his Father, Henry and Mother, Mathilda. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Manuela “Nellie” Messer, sons Michael (Annah) Messer of Las Vegas Nevada, Mark (Denise) Messer and daughter Marie (Richard) Adams, both of Jacksonville, Florida and Grandchildren Annah , Stephen, Emily, Christopher, Cassandra, Amber, Brittany, Casey and 8 great grandchildren. Along with his sister Kay (Lonnie) Kerr of Dry Ridge, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the Corey- Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida from 10am to 11am with a Memorial Service beginning at 11am. Internment will take place at 2pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
