Dorothy Mae Gandy

Our Mother, Dorothy Mae Gandy, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Lifecare Center of Hilliard, FL. She was born November 5, 1922 in Los Angeles, California to the late Winfield Scott Roerig and Mary Louise Roerig.

She is survived by: two sons, Carl M. Gandy, Jr. (Susan), Leslie Norman Gandy (Connie), daughter, Marie Kathleen Mikell, daughter-in-law, Brenda D. Gandy, 18 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Crady (George), and two brothers, Ronald Roerig and Christopher Roerig.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Gandy, Sr. and two sons, Stephen Michael Gandy and Jerry Russell Gandy.

Her family was the pride and joy of her life and she was an inspiration to all who new her. Our Mother was kind and gentle person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She was retired from Ryder Truck Lines, but went on to work at other places until well up in her 80's.

Our Mother was a person of faith and lived her life serving the Lord. She enjoyed attending Dinsmore Baptist Church where she was a member and preschool Sunday school teacher for over 40 years.

A celebration of our Mother's life will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11:30 a.m., at Dinsmore Baptist Church, with a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Winson Butler will be officiating. The interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.

The family requests that masks be worn.
