

Douglas William Dixon passed away suddenly on Thursday February 27, 2025. Doug as most of us know him by, was 78 years old, born August 27, 1946 in Hollywood, FL. He is predeceased by his mother Pearl (Brogon) Dixon, his father Frank Dixon, his sister Sharon Hyde, and his wife of 37 years Gail Dixon.
Doug loved his family, friends, and bass fishing. Every weekend if he was not working or involved in family activities he could usually be found somewhere on the water.
Papa, his other name that he took great pride in, will be lovingly remembered and missed. He is survived by his daughters Jennifer Dixon Smith (Bo), Christine Dixon; Sisters Ellen Bailey (Russ), and Sally Fuzy (Paul); His Grandkids Jacob, Abigail, Aiden, and Shelby; Niece Shelly Czatt (Eric); Nephews Joe Gallman (Jennifer) and Dr. Jeremy Fuzy (Sophie). His significant other, travel buddy and constant supporter Betty Goebel.
Doug spent 25 years in Police Law Enforcement and 7 years in US Government Service as an Operations Officer for the Homeland Security/Federal Air Marshal Service. He retired in 2008 and moved to North Florida to be closer to his kids and grandkids.

A a memorial service for Douglas will be held Friday, March 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32223.
