

Born September 21, 1925
Mr. Jorgensen was born in Detroit, Michigan and was first generation Dane. He served with the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. During WWII, when he was 21, he served as a ship’s captain and relocated his ship from Sasebo, Japan to Hawaii with a crew of 19 year old sailors. After serving his country, he obtained an engineering degree from the University of Michigan. After graduation, he worked for several engineering firms in Detroit Area.
Mr. Jorgensen relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1961 while he was working for the Houdaville Duval Wright Construction Company. He fell in love with Jacksonville and in 1965, opened his own successful engineering company, Forward Engineering. He was a member of the Reveler’s Club, president and chairman of the Board for the Southside Businessmen’s Club, President of the Sales and Marketing Executives of Jacksonville and president of the South Council Chamber of Commerce and his favorite, the Friday morning Breakfast club. At his death, he was employed by the city of Jacksonville in the Engineering Department.
Mr. Jorgensen was very active at All Saints Episcopal Church where he served in various capacities. He especially enjoyed cooking for the annual fish fry. He was a member of the Ponte Vedra Country Club, past member of Deerwood Country Club and the University Club. He was loved and respected by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carla and Edward Jorgensen and his sister jean Jorgensen Baier.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Faith, two daughters: Mrs. Robert Leslie (Janis), Asheville, N.C. and Mrs. Ron Blaizer (Susan) of Jacksonville, two step-children: Dr. Wayland H. Linthicum III of Greensboro, N.C. and Ms. Cheryl L. Stephens of Melbourne, Fl., 4 grandchildren, 11 great=grandchildren and the mother of his children, Ilene Jorgensen of Asheville, N.C.
A memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 26, 2012 in All Saints Episcopal Church, located at 4171 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church. The Reverend Gerald G Alexander officiating
