WILLIAMSEdgar Williams, age 88 (born 11/10/1925) entered his eternal reward on Friday August 29, 2014, at home surrounded by his family.Mr. Williams was born near Helena, Ga and left the area to join the Navy during the Korean conflict. He returned to marry Bernice Powell on November 30, 1945. They were blessed with two children, Betty (Tom) Hanson and Eddie (Denise) Williams. Four grandchildren Jill (Frank) Hanson, Jacinda (Stephen) Hance, Jacqueline (Stephen) Hogan and Julie (Scott) Weech. Six grandchildren, Zac Hogan, Rylan Hance, Hezekiah Weech, Jace Hance, Aubree Weech and Miles Hogan.Mr. Williams came to Jacksonville in 1953 with the Florida Ford Tractor company, and was later hired by the U S Postal Service, where he worked for the next 30 years mostly in the Riverview/Lake Forest area of town.He also was a bi-vocational pastor founding the Thomas Creek Baptist Church in Nassau county on Lem Turner Rd. and a faithful servant of our Lord until he crossed over into glory.Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon August 31, 14 at the Thomas Creek Baptist Church, with visitation at 2:00pm, an hour before the services.
