Wayne E Cooksey.......    To a special and beautiful lady, both inside and out.

I am another of a long list of Jones College employees who had the pleasure of working with "Dolly".  We both shared a love for dolls and would chat about our recent additions. My thoughts and prayers go out to her daughters.

She was extensively known as “Dolly Perkins” but to me she has always been “Mrs. Perkins”.

Mrs. Perkins was a great neighbor mother. In fact, she was the mother of my best friend, Robin Perkins, and her older sister, Leslie. She sometimes traded various motherly neighborly “duties” with my mother, like giving us rides, since we all lived only a couple houses away, cattycorner, from each other.

Mrs. Perkins, along with my mother, didn't interfere with (and even supported) our important missions in life, such as watching “Dark Shadows” every afternoon, getting us into the special Mrs. Justice's 6th grade class, marching and playing in the school bands, having sleepovers, and selling the most GirlScout cookies as the incomparable “Robin and Robin Incorporated”.

I haven't kept up much with the Perkins since school days, my having lived in many different states since then. But I periodically think of those wonderful days. 

Actually, it was just a week ago that I did so again, when my husband and I (who live in the hot southern desert of Arizona) went to see the new “Dark Shadows” movie (which we loved). J.R.'s heard all about those days, including how Mrs. Perkins would let Robin watch tv while doing her homework. (I wasn't allowed to. But then, Robin always made excellent grades.)

I send my sincere condolences to Robin and Leslie, and the rest of the family. And, aside from this current sad time, I hope that you are very happy with life.

It was my pleasure to have worked with Dolly!  I'll never forget many of the things we discussed.  For instance, in discussing military service Dolly told me how her husband did not have the opportunity to take his boots off for three weeks in WWII.  Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Dolly was a good friend and fun to visit with in our neighborhood.  Richard and I are planning on coming to the viewing. Hope to visit with you then.

Dolly was a lovely lady with whom I worked for several years at Jones College.  She was always cheerful and had a kind word for all.  Her gingerbird cookies and other homemade goodies were legend with those of us who worked with her.  She will be missed.   My sympathy to her loved ones.
