

Felipe was born in Havana, Cuba on May 24, 1958 and immigrated to the United States in 1968 with his parents, Dr. Francisco Emilio Lorenzo-Luaces and Rina Maria Lorenzo-Luaces de Santos Gomez and his siblings. Felipe earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Mathematics from the University of North Florida. He recently retired from the State of Florida Department of Vital Statistics as a Statistician in Jacksonville after almost 40 years of service. Felipe also worked as a Professor in the Mathematics Department at Florida State College at Jacksonville for 20 years. Felipe attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mandarin for decades.
Felipe was an amazing and proud father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He loved his family with open arms and embraced a life of kindness, inclusion and understanding. Felipe’s life has made an impact to everyone who was close to him. Felipe looked forward to caring for his grandson, Jaden and loved spending time with his family and friends watching movies and Jaguar games while enjoying good food together. His passing will be felt for the rest of his loved one’s lives. He will be sorely missed by all.
Felipe is survived by his daughter Rebecca (Michael) Lorenzo-Luaces, grandson, Jaden and his daughter Jessica (Robert) Lorenzo-Luaces. Felipe’s loss will be felt by his siblings, Frank (Andrea) Lorenzo-Luaces, Maria (Mark) Gregorio, Victoria (Phillip) Schmitt and Elvia (Mary) Lorenzo-Luaces and his nieces and nephews, Matthew (Nicole), Alexandria (Rebekah), Christina, Marisa (Jose) and Nicky.
Felipe is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Francisco Lorenzo-Luaces and Rina Maria Lorenzo-Luaces.
A private memorial service will be planned for July.
