HOLDEN— Mr. Floyd R. Holden, 94, passed away August 20, 2014. Born in Minnesota, Mr. Holden had lived in Jacksonville for most of his life. He retired as a letter carrier and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in WW II and the Korean War. He was a charter member of Highlands Baptist Church for 55 years and served as a deacon for many years. His funeral service will be held at Highlands Baptist Church, 2159 Broward Road, Thursday, August 28 at 11:00 AM with Dr. Art Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service. His surviving family includes: his children, Linda Holden (John) Tyler and Mike Holden; brother in law, Murray (Wilma) Dorsey; sister in law, Selma Morris; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his wife of 50 years, Ruth Dorsey Holden. Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave.
