

Frankie Mae Yates Morgan was born February 1, 1939, to Frank Barnett Yates and Addie Mae Treadwell Yates in LaGrange, Georgia. The family moved around, and she also lived in Columbus, GA, Opelika, AL, and West Point, GA before returning to LaGrange. She graduated from LaGrange High School in 1957. She moved to Macon, GA to attend Mercer University and major in Elementary Education, and received her BA and teacher certification. She moved to Jacksonville, FL, in 1961 to begin her teaching career at Stockton Elementary. She joined First Baptist Church Jacksonville for the rest of her life and met her husband, Francis "Frank" Earl Morgan. They were married in 1962 for 56 years until, he died in 2018. He had 2 children by a previous marriage, Wayne Earl Morgan and Miriam Frances Morgan, so she joined them and made a family of 4. He was in the U.S. Army. They had their first child, Frank Barnett Morgan in 1963 and deployed to Ludwigsburg, Germany for 3 years. During that time, a second son, James Phillip Morgan was born in Heidelberg, Germany. The family returned to Jacksonville while Frank was deployed to Vietnam for a year. The family then returned to Germany to Mannheim, and Boeblingen. After 2 ½ years, they returned to Jacksonville for a year while Frank was deployed to Thailand. Again, they returned to Germany to Nelligen and Binlach for another 2 ½ years. Frank retired from the Army and worked in Jacksonville. He transferred to Brunswick, GA, and then took a job in Saudi Arabia for 8 years. Frankie joined him for 6 of those years. Then he transferred to Egypt for 8 years, with Frankie joining him for 6 years. He retired and they continued to live in Jacksonville until his death and to the present time. Frankie believed that the toughest job in the U.S. Army was being an Army wife with the responsibilities of family management, raising children alone, and loneliness. Frankie taught in all the locations where they lived for 49 years. She attained her MAT from Jacksonville University, and Media Specialist, Reading Specialist, Early Childhood, from University of North Florida. Some of that time she taught each of the elementary grades, K-61\ Media Specialist, Art, Reading Specialist, Science Coordinator. She joined a church or Christian community wherever she lived. She volunteered teaching Good News Clubs with Child Evangelism, the church library, Boy and Girl Scouts, GAs, AWANA, with private Christian schools, and various other activities. She started 3 libraries from scratch as a teenager in her home church, on the company compound in Saudi Arabia, and Maadi Community Church in Egypt. She was active in her Ladies Sunday School class and participated weekly in church activities. She was surrounded by Christian friends. Her Life was characterized as a believer and follower of Christ, the one who created her, saved her, and sustained her to the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Francis Earl Morgan; and granddaughters, Renee Morgan and Amy Michelle Giles.
She is survived by her children; Wayne Earl Morgan (Sharon), Miriam Frances Morgan, Frank Barnett Morgan (Laura), James Phillip Morgan (Linda); grandchildren, Jonathan Morgan (Sarah), David Morgan, Timothy Morgan (Lauren), Rebekah Roades (Nathan), Jason Christopher Giles (Kelly), Brandy Ballance (Richard), Cody Morgan, Kylie Morgan; and great grandchildren, Noah Morgan, Riley Morgan, Zach Ballance, Isaac Roades, Ellie Morgan, Vivian Ballance.
Services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Mandarin Chapel, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. She will be interred with her beloved husband at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
