

Retired Master Sergeant George Bott Jr. passed away January 27, 2013. He was born in Rochester, NY to Agnes Lois (Shottmiller) and George J. Bott Sr. April 22, 1928. George attended St. Michael’s School and Edison Technical High School. George was inducted into the Army in 1949. He married May 5, 1951 to Mary Alice Graves (Maggie). The couple was stationed in El Paso TX where the first of their five children were born George III. David was born in Washington DC and Ruth later in Maryland. While in Great Lakes, IL Thomas was born then Daniel in Olathe, Kansas.
George served in Korea in 1955. Following a tour in Germany 1966 then was sent to Rehoboth, MA before retiring to Jacksonville, FL in 1969. With 5 kids in school he found work as a store manager at Western Auto which later her retired again. George will be remembered for his analytical mind and athletically abilities. He enjoyed baseball, basketball, bowling as a player, couch and fan; he loved fishing, camping and travelling. The army provided many wonderful experiences and the opportunity to travel across the US which he enjoyed until he passed away. He visited every state in the travel trailer then Alaska and Hawaii by air. George did the right thing for the right reasons for his family and will be missed by his daughter and three sons, his grandchildren George, Jennifer, Jessica, Rebekah, Zachary, Joshua, Emily and Colby and 7 great grandchildren and by Maggie his wife. He was predeceased by George III. In lieu of donations can be made to Community Hospice.
A funeral service with military honors will be held Friday, March 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at The Jacksonville National Cemetery,4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Blanding Blvd. Chapel, 5753 Blanding Blvd Jacksonville, Florida.
