

Born March 11, 1931 in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of the late Harry and Lavinia Ervin.
George retired from the fertilizer business as the owner of Hastings Farm Center in Hastings, Florida.
George was a lifelong member of Arlington Baptist Church and served in various capacities, including chairman and treasurer of the finance committee. George’s strong Christian faith was visible to many through his life and love for his family and his God. George was known to have a green thumb when it came to growing gorgeous camellias and delicious oranges which he always eagerly shared with friends and family.
George is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lavinia Ervin, two brothers, Charles and Henry Ervin, two grandchildren, Patrick Myatt and Callie Pharis. Survivors include, his wife of 67 years, Elma Ervin, daughter Teresa Campbell and husband John of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter Cindy Pharis and husband Pete of Stephenville, Texas. Survivors also include granddaughter Robyn Jackson and husband Eli of Temple Texas, granddaughter Renee Pharis of Jacksonville, Florida and two great grandchildren, Sarah and Judah Jackson.
Services for George will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home located at 940 Cesery Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida with Rev. Fred Norman and Rev. Pete Pharis officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Riverside Memorial Park located at 7242 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
