

Gerald Lamar Bevis, S.r, 79, was called home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 12, 2014 in Jacksonville, FL. Gerald was born November 3, 1935, in Baker County, FL, son of Gertrude Dobson Bevis and William Gary Bevis. He served 3 years in the US Army and graduated in 1962 from the University of Florida with a BS in Agriculture Economics. He retired after 30 years of service from the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Gerald lived a life that personified Christian values. Gerald was a devoted husband, caring for his wife Marcia Fern for 52 years. He enjoyed the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, trips to the mountains, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Fern Bevis; his son, Gerald Bevis, Jr.; grandson, Trevor Bevis, of Jacksonville; his sister, Jacquelyn Davis of Macclenny; brother, Murwin Bevis of Jacksonville; brother-in-law, IE McDuffie (Joann) of Macclenny, sister in law Barbara Bevis of Rome, GA, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents of Baker County, and brother, William Gary Bevis, Jr. of Rome GA. Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17 in First United Methodist Church of Macclenny 95 N. 5th St. Macclenny, FL 32063 with Reverend John Blunt officiating. Interment to follow at Manntown Cemetery Glen Saint Mary, FL.
