

Gerald Friedman of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born on June 3, 1937 in Montreal, Canada to Theodore and Mary Friedman. He has resided in Jacksonville since 1943. Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary Friedman, and his sister, Rosalind Friedman Bashuk. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Francine Friedman; his daughter, Betsy (Keith) Zipper of Jacksonville, Florida, his daughter, Marla Semmel of Vorheese, New Jersey; his grandchildren, Ian and Spencer Zipper, Madison and Benjamin Semmel; his brother, Michael (Pat) Friedman of Seattle, Washington; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gerald was the past president of the Greater Jacksonville Floor Covering Association and a past member of the Board of Trustees of Temple Ahavath Chesed. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the USSVI First Coast Base, the USS Threadfin SS410 Association, and the Temple Brotherhood.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 21st in Evergreen Cemetery (Temple Gate ), 4535 Main Street, Jacksonville with Rabbi Joshua B. Lief, as officiant.
