Gerry Moreau, 80, of Jacksonville, joined our dad in Heaven on their 60th wedding anniversary on March 7, 2013. She died at her home. Gerry was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 29, 1932, where she was raised and graduated from high school. She married her high school sweetheart, Vic, after he returned from Korea. They immediately started their family and Gerry was a loving mother to four and homemaker until later in life when she began her career in real estate. She began as a realtor with Exon Realty in 1973. She decided to move over to Watson Realty and worked her way up into management and then struck out on her own with Moreau Realty in 1984. After a few years running her own business, she decided to sell her office to Watson Realty and continue on as a Broker and Manager for Mr. Watson. Gerry decided to retire and enjoy her life with the love of her life. Vic and Gerry enjoyed travelling, antiquing and spending time with their family. They both enjoyed volunteering by serving meals at Sultzbacher Center. Our mom was a self made, strong woman who prided herself as a wife, mother and business woman. She lost her mother at a very young age but carried on to raise four children of her own and was a sterling example to her children and grandchildren. She had a strong opinion and conviction but was always a loving mother to us kids. They, as a couple, and she, individually, walked us through our formative years and stood by us in our adult years as a pillar of strength, head of our family and later as loving and doting grandparents. Our family has been blessed with a stellar example of parents and grandparents and she was an inspiration to us all. We have lost our mother but also our best friend. Gerry is survived by her three children, Diane Pecot, Gary Moreau (Lisa), and Maureen (Gary), her grandchildren, Nicole Denneen, Chad Pecot (Irma), Heather Pecot, Corey Moreau, Andy Moreau (Angela), Hunter Evans, Tori Evans, Leanna Caton (Trevor), and Riley Hayes, along with great- grandchildren, Ben Denneen and Quinn Denneen, sister Marlene Davis, and brother, Chuck Franzel (Sharon) and numerous nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by husband, Vic, and daughter, Vicki Moreau-DeVries, parents, and two brothers. There will be a Mass to Celebrate Gerry’s life at 11 am on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 11665 Fort Caroline Rd. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 or The Sultzbacher Center, 611 E. Adams St., Jacksonville, Florida 32202.
