Gloria Price Schrum

Gloria Price Schrum, 83 of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on March 25, 2017 at the Hadlow Community Hospice Center of NorthEast Florida. She is survived by her husband Jacob P. Schrum , her son, Dr. Dale Schrum , her daughter in law, Dr. Stefanie Schrum and her grandchildren, Christopher Schrum, Michael Schrum , Sarah Schrum Wathen and Tyler Wathen, her new grandson in law. Gloria was a member of Fruit Cove Baptist Church. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6-8 at the Hardage Giddens Funeral Home in South Mandarin, open to family and friends. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the Hardage Giddens Funeral Home with interment to follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Mrs. Schrum was born August 1, 1933 to Dorene and William “Earl” Price. She received her undergraduate degree at Carson Newman University and went on to serve 32 years as a teacher in the Gaston County public school system. After receiving her Masters degree from Winthrop University she spent the last 10 of those years as a media specialist. She married Jacob Schrum, on August 24, 1957 in Gastonia, NC; they were married 59 years. Together they raised their only son, Jacob “Dale” Schrum. In 1992, Gloria and her husband moved to Jacksonville, FL to help care for her three grandchildren. Gloria spent this final chapter of her life joyfully alongside her husband. She spent her days together with him caring for her family whom she loved second only to her Father in heaven who has called her home.
