Glory was preceded in death by her father, William Murffee Gray; her mother, Barbara Jean; her brother, Doug Gray; and her grandparents, Andrew Verde and Ruth Freeman.
She is survived by her loving family members: husband Ben, daughter Amy and her husband Kevin Schermerhorn, her brother William “Bill “Gray, his wife Susan, and two beautiful granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Kamryn, whom she dearly cherished.
Glory was born in Abilene, Texas, in 1952. Her father served as a Chief Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. As a military family member, Glory had the opportunity to live in many states, including Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, but she and her family always called Wichita Falls, Texas home. Her travels allowed her to develop many talents, including being an avid surfer, a nature lover, and a dedication to horses and pets. She also loved education and received a BA from Midwestern State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Glory worked in higher education most of her life, including serving as an Academic Student Advisor at Jacksonville University. She was dedicated to her student’s success and touched many lives.
In her later life, Glory endured many years of medical challenges, but her courage, will to live, and, most importantly, her love for her family and God allowed her to meet those challenges with conviction and a commitment to overcome them.
Psalm 73:26
My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.
