Grace E. Crouse

Born in Melrose, MA, on Sept. 1, 1925, Grace Elizabeth Williams Crouse passed away after a short illness in Jacksonville, FL on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend and is missed by so many. Active her entire life, she was know far and wide as the “Bicycle Lady” for her devotion to her daily bicycle rides, interrupted only by inclement weather, and then replaced with energetic walks. She travelled extensively around the country and world with her late husband, Jim. She is survived by her daughter Susan, of Jacksonville, FL, her son Jimmy and his wife, Ellen, of Naples, FL, and their children, Rachel Mellwig and her husband, Christian, of Heidelberg, Germany, and Jay and his wife, Katie, of Naples, FL, and her daughter Barbara and her husband James O. Green of Keswick, VA. She is also survived by five sisters and their families, and many friends, including her pen pal of over 7 decades, Margaret, of Great Britain. She will join her late husband, E. J. “Jim” Crouse, Jr. at Arlington National Cemetery where her funeral will take place. The family requests that any in lieu of memorials gifts be made in her name to the Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32257.
