

Born in 1939, Harry was the son of Harry William Wright and Gladys Marie Wright. He grew up in Lindon, Iowa, where he developed the strong values of integrity, responsibility, and service that guided him throughout his life.
In June of 1957, Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the Supply Corps. His dedication and leadership led him to attend Officer Candidate School and the Navy Supply Corps School in July 1965. In June 1966, he was deployed to Vietnam, later serving aboard the USS Wiltsie, followed by assignments in Norfolk, Virginia, including service on the USS Sanctuary. After returning to Norfolk, Harry attended the Naval War College and later served in Washington, D.C., where he met his wife, Jill.
Harry returned to Norfolk and retired from the U.S. Navy in 1983 as a Commander, concluding an honorable 28-year career. At the time of his retirement, he served as Commanding Officer of FOSSAC. Throughout his distinguished service, he earned numerous honors, including the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (two awards), Navy Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal (two awards), Vietnam Service Medal with five stars, and the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation.
Following his retirement, Harry continued his commitment to service through his work with JJMA, an engineering firm supporting government contracts related to U.S. Navy ship construction and hazardous waste management.
Harry enjoyed a full and meaningful life, finding pleasure in golfing, gardening, and reading. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, known for his quiet strength, steady presence, and deep love for his family. His life reflected a sense of purpose and gratitude that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Jill; his children, Marie Daly and Jacob Wright; and his four cherished grandsons Gavin Wright, Brian, Eric, and Logan Daly.
A funeral service will be held in Iowa among his extended family, who meant so much to him and were a constant source of love throughout his life. A memorial service will also be held at Greenbrier Presbyterian Church in Chesapeake, Virginia, with the date and time to be announced.
