

Helen Davis Johnson, 86, went home to the Lord November 9th, 2012. She was born December 4th, 1925 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Herman Frederick Davis and Opal Holiday Davis. She is pre deceased by her loving husband of over 45 years Kelly Paul Johnson, her brother James Davis, and her grandson, Christopher Davis Johnson. Helen grew up in Jacksonville and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She worked as a secretary at NAS Jax during and after WWII before meeting her husband Paul. They were married in 1948 while Paul was attending the University of Florida and continued to work until his graduation and returned to Jacksonville in 1951. Helen then became a devoted housewife and mother of three boys, and was very active in the community. She was an avid bridge player, and was a member of the Riverside Garden Club, Women’s Club, and a member of Ortega United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Helen will be remembered for her spunk, her devotion to family and friends, and the impact she had on their lives. Helen never forgot a birthday or anniversary, and made a point to always stay in touch with those who meant so much to her, even until the very end. Helen is survived by her three sons Kelly Paul Johnson Jr. (Bonnie), Mark F. Johnson (Debbie), and Philips W. Johnson (Marty). She is also survived by her grandchildren Travis Johnson, Leighton Johnson Harbuck (Ryan), Kyle Johnson, and Philips W. Johnson Jr. A celebration and memorial service will be held this Saturday November 17th, 2012 at 2:00 at Ortega United Methodist Church 4807 Roosevelt Blvd. 32210. In lieu of flowers, the family request that gifts be made in her memory to the Ortega United Methodist Church Building Fund, or the Penney Retirement Community in Penney Farms, Florida. The family would also like to thank her wonderful care givers Carol Paris, Angela Martin, Samantha Boren, and the entire staff of The Pavilion at Penney Farms for their love and devotion to Helen.
