Wayne was proud to serve his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard. As a sales professional he never met a stranger and loved talking to and meeting new people. He had a strong love for family, country, friends, and a passion for fishing and spending time outdoors and on the water. He was a member of several local fishing clubs and most proud of his Florida B.A.S.S Federation State Championship win in 1997.

Surviving family: Wife Leslee Russell, Daughter Misty Flanagan; Son Michael Russell; Son Kyle Schlaich; Grandsons Zachary, Cadyn, Kanaan, and Karter; Sister Linda Russell; Brother Joseph Russell; Special Aunt Pearl Tarter; a host of nieces and nephews
