Farwell – James William Farwell, Sr., 93, died on June 30, 2011 at Southlake Nursing and Rehab Center. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Louise Ryals Farwell, two daughters, Sharon Pouliot of Jacksonville, FL, Susan Alligood (William) of Baton Rouge, LA, and one son, The Rev. Dr. James William Farwell, Jr., (Rita) of Wheeling, WV. There are 10 natural grandchildren, Suzanne, Thomas, Tanya, Angelique, Dawn, Julie, David, John, Hannah, and Sarah, and 3 by adoption, Cynthia, Carolyn, and Randy, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Farwell was born and reared in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Guy D. and Edythe Livy Farwell. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II aboard the cruiser USS Pittsburgh with the rank of Chief Petty Officer and again in the Korean War. He owned and accounting practice in the city for 20 years and was a past President of the Florida Accountants Association. He was a real estate associate for 15 years and retired at age 83. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Association.
Graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 with The Rev. Larry O’Connell officiating. HARDAGE-GIDDENS OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Blvd is serving the family.
