Jim was born on October 4, 1932 in Raeford, North Carolina. In 1955, he obtained his degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. After a brief service in the Army Corps of Engineers, he was employed by Seaboard System Railroad - CSX Corporation until his retirement in 1986. After his retirement, he enjoyed volunteering at his church, Deermeadows Baptist, vacationing with his wife and family, and many, many rounds of golf.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue; daughter Susan Hale (Randy); daughter-in-law Kim Tapp, and his two beloved grandchildren James Hale and Josie Tapp. He was predeceased by his son, David Clark Tapp of Pell City, Alabama.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice for their compassionate care and respect in his final days. There will be a small private graveside service at Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, FL.
