James H. Williamson Jr. (Jim) 86, native of Jacksonville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 18, 2023. He was the son of the late Mary Hinton and James Herbert Williamson. After graduating from Landon High School, he used his service in the Navy to launch a highly respected and rewarding career with the FAA as an air traffic controller. He married Judi Biggers in 1976.
Upon retirement from the FAA he and Judi opened a stained glass business, “Art of Glassworks” which they ran for 20 years, building and installing stained glass windows in homes and churches throughout the city. He also experienced his own renaissance later in life as a tuba player, performing with the Bold City Brass, First Coast Pops, and the orchestras of San Jose Baptist and Deermeadows Baptist churches.
He is predeceased by his wife, Judi, and survived by two children, four grandchildren, two siblings, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25th, 2023 from 10-11 AM, followed immediately by a celebration of his life at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Rd., Jacksonville, FL. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
