

James Lawrence “Larry” Witter, 88, resided in Jacksonville and St. Augustine since 1965. He passed away on July 8, 2020 in Jacksonville, Fl. following an extended illness. He was born on August 24, 1931 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Herbert and Alice (Sidner) Witter.
He worked most of his career as an equipment sales manager. He served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years and received his BA degree at Ohio State University. Mr. Witter loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed his vacation retreat in the mountains of North Georgia. In his younger years he enjoyed playing tennis, and body surfing at the beach. Most recently he walked every day, and liked going to the gym. He was an avid sports fan, particularly college baseball, football, and basketball.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Kay Tracey Witter, two daughters, Karen Volkmann (Keith) and Sandra Moore (Doug), one brother Richard Witter (Janice). He had 5 grandchildren, Kyle Volkmann, Kaley Volkmann, Ben Johnson (Sara), Adam Moore, and Kurtis Johnson. and one great-grandchild Theodore Johnson.
Due to COVID restrictions and social distancing, a private Memorial Service will be held for family only in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home with Paul Johnson as Officiant.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Way of St. John’s County, 117 Bridge Street, St. Augustine, Fl. 32084.
