

Jean Ridgely Hardaker passed away Feb 1, 2014, at age 92, in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by three generations of family. Up until a week before her death Jean enjoyed living independently, playing bridge three days a week, actively enjoying her family and friends.
Born in Morgantown, West Virginia and raised in Lakeland, Florida, Jean was the only daughter of Robert and Nancy Ridgely. During WWII she served in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force of the British Royal Air Force. After returning to the USA, she found the love of her life and married Paul Hinson Hardaker from Lakeland, Florida. She raised five children, volunteered with PTA, Garden Club, Riverside Hospital Auxiliary, St. Johns Terrace House as well as many other organizations.
Jean was preceded in death by Paul, her husband, of 60 years. She is survived by her 5 children: Barbara Lorenz, Paul R. Hardaker (Joy), Trish Ivie (Glenn), Bill Hardaker (Lana), Cathy Rogert (John), 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 5753 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
