Jefferson Lee Pennington, Jr., passed away on July 9, 2021 in Orange Park, Florida at the age of 86 years. Born on November 24, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida, he was a resident for many years before moving to Clay County. He retired after 40 years as a salesman in the wholesale paper business.
A graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, he was in the marching band for 3 years, and was awarded the Chevalier degree in the fraternity of Demolay. He was a Sergeant in the Florida National Guard for nine years.
“Buddy” will be remembered and missed for his kind and friendly spirit, devotion to his family, readiness to lend a helping hand, his love of animals and for being ready with a good joke.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Freddie Love (Smith) Pennington, daughters Laurie Love (Pennington) Arnold, (Edward), Lynne Sharon (Pennington) Williams, (Stuart), son Jeffrey Holmes Pennington, two grandchildren, Justin Arnold, Cassidy Williams, a sister, Diane Ashmead, and two nieces, April Coats, and Andrea Ashmead.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
