

Jeno Mayor Uvas, Sr., aged 83 years, passed away on October 19, 2022 surrounded by his family and close friends at his home in Jacksonville, Florida. Born 1939 in Romblon, Philippines, Jeno attended college at the Philippine Maritime Institute. Shortly thereafter, he began his military service in 1961 by joining the U.S. Navy. Throughout his tenure, he served stationed at various bases in the United States, including Mayport Naval in his hometown of Jacksonville, along with a few months-long tours overseas away from his young wife and growing family. After 20 years, in 1981, he left the Navy, rank MS1 Jeno M. Uvas USN (Retired).
Jeno enjoyed spending time with friends and expanding family through the years, particularly when traveling on cruise ships and singing from his lengthy list of karaoke favorites. He was an active lifelong parishioner at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, as a member of the Filipino Apostolate and a regular altar Cross bearer during Mass services. Jeno was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a regular contributor to charities such as the U.S. Navy Veterans Memorial and St. Jude’s Cancer Society.
Jeno is preceded in death by his parents, Rufo, Sr. and Josefa, and his two siblings, Norma and Rufo, Jr.
Jeno is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ada; his only daughter, Mariebeth; and two sons, Jeno, Jr. and Charlston (Chuck); two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Zachary; and his 6 months old great grandchild, Atlas. Amongst his numerous surviving nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Jeno was well-loved by his extended family and lifelong close friends alike. He will be deeply missed by many.
A visitation for Jeno will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage - Giddens Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207. A funeral mass will occur Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 10472 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246. A committal service with military honors will occur Friday, November 11, 2022 at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32207 following the funeral mass.
