

Orange Park- Jerry F. Lyle, 79, of Fleming Island died at 10:18 a.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens The Oaklawn Chapel at 4801 San Jose Blvd in Jacksonville, with Pastor William (Bill) Register officiating. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Jerry was born on August 30, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Robert B. and Elsie M. (Smithpeters) Lyle. He married Shirley Elizabeth Riley, who survives him, on September 14, 1956 in Mt. Vernon, IL. Other survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jeff Davis of Fleming Island and Denise Lyle of Orange Park; two grandchildren Stephanie (Brandon) Taylor of Jacksonville and Steven Davis of Fleming Island; a sister Delores Powell of Mt. Vernon, IL and a nephew Larry (Sharon) Powell of Mahomet, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Mr. Lyle served his country proudly in the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from CSX Transportation in 1992 after 31 years in the railroad industry. He was a very special husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone he met. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone whose life he touched.
