Jimmy Reuben Hartley

Jimmy Reuben Hartley 76, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully at his home in Mandarin, Florida on Sunday May 4th. Jimmy was born on February 13, 1949 to Clarence and Helen A. Price Hartley. He was married to Cathy Ann Murdaugh Hartley from Green Cove Springs, Florida for 53 wonderful years.

He was the first graduating class of Samuel W. Wolfson high school. Where he attended shop class and worked as a helper at North Florida Lincoln / Mercury and became a master mechanic for 35 years and retired from there.

Jimmy enjoyed hunting for many years with family and friends in Bear Bay hunting club (Ocala, Florida), Flatwoods hunting club (St. John’s, Florida) and a private club in (Gough, Georgia). He also loved Dirt track racing with both of his sons Matt and Jake, from building the engines and cars, to Pitt crew chief at the races (fuel definitely ran in his blood). He had two questions for anyone wanting a motor built, “how fast do you want to run? & how much money do you want to spend?”

Jimmy is survived by his wife Cathy, his sons Matt (Jennifer) and Jake (Mandy), Grandchildren Lana(Randy), Laurel, Jessica, Hannah, Taylor, and Great-grandson Kohen. Siblings Fred (Gloria) Hartley, Larry (Linda) Hartley, Martha (Alan) Weeks, Sister-in-law Sharese Hartley, many nieces and nephews, and numerous wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Helen, brothers Tommy and Lester, and sister Jackie.

A visitation for Jimmy will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. A committal service will occur at Gravely Hill Cemetery, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, located inside Riverside Memorial Park.

The family and friends of Jimmy Hartley will be hosting a lunch following the graveside service, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Smith, 5163 Lourcey Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. All are welcome.
