Joan Ames Krause

Joan Ames Krause passed away at home on March 22, 2026. She was born Joan Tucker Ames on September 23, 1939 in New York City, the daughter of John Tucker Ames and Ellen Speers Ames of South Nyack, New York. Joan had an older brother, Michael Lincoln Ames, who predeceased her at the age of 68 in 2003.

Joan is survived by her loving husband, Charles F. Krause, and her beloved children, a son, Robert J. Faulkner (Kristie), and a daughter Jennifer K. Reid (Richard) and two stepsons Kent C. Krause (Valerie) and Paul E. Krause (Anne), She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Joan graduated from George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania and attended Parsons School of Design in New York City. Joan took great joy in cultivating beautiful homes where all who entered felt welcome and cared for. She loved all animals, collecting art, and tending to her flower gardens. Joan was known for her kind heart, selfless nature and sharp wit. She always put the needs of others before herself whatever the circumstances might be. Her sense of humor brought joy and laughter to many. Her unwavering support and wise counsel will be missed. A private Celebration of Life will be held the end of April for family and invited friends.
