He was born on July 19, 1930 in Hood Landing (now Mandarin) to Lawrence and Eva (Church) Hood. After serving in the Army, JM worked for St. Regis Paper Company for 33 years, as well as a director of the Eastport Employees Credit Union for 48 years.
Upon retiring from St. Regis, JM worked shut downs at Stone Container and Georgia Pacific Paper Companies. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being with his grandchildren, his "Working Buddies."
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Malcolm and Walton, sister Thelma Caton and grandson Nicholas Henry.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Katherine (KayAnn) Wilford Hood, sons Jeff and Mark, daughters Ann Marie (Dan) DuBois and Vivian (Alan) Devane, 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
