WASDIN- Mrs. Joyce Wasdin, 74, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011. She was a native of Douglas, GA and had made her home in Jacksonville for many years. She was a substitute teacher in Jacksonville for over 40 years, working mostly at Henry F. Kite School. Mrs. Wasdin was a longtime member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for all ages over the years. She will always be remembered for her giving and compassionate nature. Surviving family includes: her husband of 53 years, Clealon Wasdin; 2 daughters, Paula Acuff and Karen Wasdin; 2 sons, Joel Wasdin and Gary Wasdin; a brother, Cleon Johnson and a granddaughter, Stephanie Wasdin. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM at North Jacksonville Baptist Church with Dr. Herb Reavis officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Community Hospice, The Acosta-Rua Center, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville 32257.
