

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Wife and Mother Louise Yvonne Layfield “Sandy”, on July 31, 2021 in the presence of her devoted husband Jim of 62 years.
She was the first-born child to Edna Ellis Tisdel and James Franklin Tisdel on July 20, 1936 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.
For love of country, she proudly served the in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1956 in Washington, DC. During her time as a Marine, she worked in the Pentagon as a Secretary in the Defense Department. She spent her time in DC developing a beautiful singing voice that she shared throughout her life.
In service to the community, she was a founding and charter member of The Women of the Moose North Jax Chapter serving as the first Senior Regent. Her accomplishments were many serving with the WOTM, including her appearance as Mrs. Claus for the annual Children’s Christmas party, a treasured tradition for her and the family.
Sandy is survived by her cherished husband, James (Jim), her adored children, Melody (Fullard), Curtis, Peggy (Smith) and Bruce & wife Lynn; much loved grandchildren, Dustin, Ashley, Cameron, Kevin, James, Sean, Corey and William; 4 delightful great grandchildren, Jacob, London, Lucas and Camella; 3 wonderful brothers, Linwood, Richard and Terry, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death is her sweet boy James “Little Jimmy” and her brother Rev. James Tisdel.
Her vivacious personality filled the world with laughter and she always had a smile for everyone she met.
Family and friends are invited to attend services to celebrate her life starting Tuesday, August 10th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home at 1426 Rowe Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32208. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 11th at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218 promptly at 12:30 pm.
