Lynn Johnson Morse passed away at age 88 on May 8, 2017 in Flagler Hospital St Augustine, Florida. Lynn was born in Boydton, Virginia on February 27, 2017 and after serving time in the Army was introduced to Florence Webster by mutual friends. He and Florence were married and moved to Newark, New Jersey to begin their life and family.
Lynn not only served as an Army Veteran. Lynn retired from the US Postal Service where he served as a Postal Police Officer and also retired from the Newark School Board of Education where he worked with special needs children. The children who “Lenny” worked with had a special place for him in their hearts and so did all of the neighborhood children. Lynn had an extremely generous spirit and the neighborhood children knew that they would never be hungry as long as they had contact with Mr. Morse. Lynn will be best remembered for making so many people laugh. No matter who he met or where he went, he somehow managed to put a smile on someone’s face. He has blessed his family and friends with so many memory’s it is unbelievable. When those around him least expected it, there came a joke. Seldom planned, mostly spontaneous, but always funny. His lively and energetic personality, as well as his super silly jokes will be missed by all.
Lynn is survived by his three children, Cheryl Morse, Darin Morse, and Janice Williams; two grandchildren, Winston Jackson II and Travis Jackson; one great -grandchild, Winston Jackson III; son-in-law, Roosevelt Williams; sister, Alice Burwell and was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence Morse; and sister, Ida Burwell.
Memorial and Funeral services will be performed at Oaklawn Chapel and Cemetery 4801 San Jose Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32207 on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10 am.
