Marcia McQueen Myers, 78, of Port Orange, Florida passed away October 31, 2018. She was born February 20, 1940 in Washington DC to parents Thomas Warren McQueen Jr and Marian Elizabeth Deakins of Arlington Virginia.
Marcia graduated in 1957 from Wakefield HS in Arlington, Virginia, and received BAs in English and in Organ/Piano Performance from James Madison University in 1961. She was married to James Vann Norwood and together they raised three children in Texas, living in Paris, Dallas, San Antonio, and Richardson at various times. Marcia worked as a musician and secretary during her early career while raising children, eventually working with Rockwell International in Richardson Texas, providing computer and word processing education to employees there.
In 1989, she married Ted Myers and together they enjoyed the sailing and cruising life, spending about 14 years living aboard their 42-foot sailing ketch Elysia, while exploring the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, and other Caribbean islands as well as much of the Florida coast. They retired in 2003 to the landlubber life in Port Orange, Florida.
Marcia had a passion for musical performance and for much of her 15 year retirement in Port Orange she organized and led the Pickwick Singers, a local chorus that performed frequently each year at neighborhood events.
She is survived by sons Adam H. Norwood of Jacksonville, Florida and Matthew W. Norwood of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and daughter Karen E. Norwood of La Veta, Colorado. Her first husband Vann Norwood passed away in 2008. Ted Myers passed away in 2013. Her older brother Thomas McQueen III passed away earlier this year.
