Maria Cortes Espino

She was married to Gonzalo S. Espino, Sr. who died in 1989, both resided in Jacksonville. Maria was strong in her Catholic faith and was active in her church. She was an avid seamstress and graduated from a culinary cooking school. Her passion was her family and spent most of her years caring for them in many ways.

Her life will be forever cherished in the lives of their two children, Oromina Espino Ong and Gonzalo Jr., daughter in law Hortencia Hermosura Espino; eight grandchildren: Sonny Ong, Rudy Ong/wife Jane, Cherrie Ong Eliseff/husband James Eliseff, Andrew Ong/wife Beng, and Peachy Ong and Husband Von Aryundai; Michelle Espino and husband Lee Mullins, Angeline Espino and husband Cezar Garcia, Regina Espino and husband Patrick Loperfido, and Thirteen Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth and Tessa Loperfido, Surelle, Marquez and Reuben Garcia, Ava and Sofie Mullins; Andrew, Justin and Andrea Ong, Nikki and Katelyn Ong, and Raphael Aryundai.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday, December 22nd in St. Joseph’s Marian Center, 11757 Old St. Augustine Rd Jacksonville, FL 32258. Inurnment will follow at 12:30pm Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville FL 32207.
