Marjorie Evelyn Hilty Beaufort was born in Birmingham, AL on October 16, 1920 and died October 5, 2013 after loving and caring for so many throughout her life. She is remembered as wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Most of the stories shared by her family center around the dining table, her very talented sewing and crafting skills, Isle of Palms vacations, and no-nonsense approach to any problem. She was strong and fun. Her favorite activities prior to her decline generally involved visiting those who needed her most, often taking food or handmade gifts, enjoying those in the Herb Underwood Class at Riverside Presbyterian Church, volunteering with Learn to Read or Meals on Wheels, and being with friends or family. “Toddle” is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, C.W. “Bill” Beaufort, son Charles Beaufort, Jr., parents Marjorie and Charles R. Hilty, sisters Lillyan H. Oliver and Tula H. Germain, brother Charles “Chuck” R. Hilty, Jr., and grandson Samuel David Small. Those who miss her far too much are Marjorie “Mike” B. Small and Art, Nelson H. Carter and Jerry, Karen H. Beaufort, Rex H. Dunlap and Joan, Arthur P. Small, IV, Adam B. “Beau” Small and Julie, Charles “Chad” W. Beaufort, III and Jennifer, Sarah Elizabeth Beaufort, Kate Small, Allie Small, and Charles Beaufort, IV, Estelle “Teddy” Zealy, innumerable cousins in the Hilty and Beaufort families and Carol Evelyn, her caregiver for 3 years. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church Saturday, October 12 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverside Presbyterian Church, Hospice, Learn to Read or Meals on Wheels.
