Martha Baker Rogers, 78, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Baptist Medical Center after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Herbert Baker and Martha Elizabeth Dewey Baker; her daughter, Elizabeth Rogers; and her grandson, Sean Bennett Rogers.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of almost 59 years, Charles Bennett Rogers; her loving children, Chad (Christy) Rogers and Jenny (Bill) Dixon; her cherished grandchildren, Josh Rogers, Madeline, Elizabeth and Bryer Dixon; her spoiled and adored cavalier dogs, Abby and Lily Kate; and a myriad of extended family and friends who were touched by the beauty and grace of the Lord in her life.
Born in Quitman, Georgia, on December 2, 1946, Martha was a 1966 graduate of Valdosta State University, a secretary for the Registrar’s Office at Georgia Tech, worked for the Billy Graham Atlanta office, taught preschool at South Jacksonville Presbyterian, and was a long-time secretary and bookkeeper for The Rogers Appraisal Group. One of her greatest passions was writing stories and appeared many times as a guest columnist in The Quitman Free Press, her hometown weekly newspaper.
Martha spent her life dedicated to her family, loving people, and pointing them to the Savior she loved. As we will all deeply miss her, we know that she is fully healed and rejoicing with her Savior in Heaven while trying to hold up her heavily jeweled crown!
