Mary Blackman, 94, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, in her hometown where she had lived her entire life. She was born in Jacksonville on February 10, 1930, to Nathan and Essie Terrell.
Mary was a devoted wife to Darwin Blackman and a loving mother to five children: George (Martha), Nathan (deceased), Mary (deceased), and Carolyn, and a daughter who passed away as an infant. Throughout her life, Mary cherished the roles of being both a mama and a wife, always placing her family at the center of her world. She raised her grandson John, and had five other grandchildren: Belinda Kay, George Jr, Aldon Misty, Nathan and Heather. Mary has thirty great grandchildren.
She was well known for her love of thrifting, often spending time at local thrift stores where she found joy in hunting for treasures. Her kind spirit and genuine warmth left an impression on all who knew her. She always wanted to help others!
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, generosity, and bright presence.
Pallbearers will be: John Moheng III, John Meheng IV, Aldon Smith, Donald Spence, James Strickland Jr, Paul Elkins and William Parrish.
A graveside service for Mary will be held Thursday, February 6th at 1:00 PM, at Edgewood Cemetery, N Edgewood Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32209.
