Sally passed from life peacefully after living a full and interesting life.
Born in Bakersfield, CA, Sally lived in California, Virginia and settled in Jacksonville, FL in 1956 following her beloved husband, “Sparky.” After his death in 2004, Sally moved to Tampa, FL to live with her daughter Sharon.
Sally was president of the Navy Wives, Portsmouth, VA, member of the Women of the Moose, holding many offices in Virginia and Jacksonville (Chapter 1218, Mandarin Lodge), and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Survivors include daughters Barbara Batchelder (Titusville, FL), Beverly Hicks (Spokane. WA), and Sharon Danaher (Tampa, FL). Grandchildren include Thomas, Brian, and Kevin Danaher, Steve and Eddie Chambers, Jeannie Distel, Joe Hicks, Darla Baas, Donna Bowman and many great & great/great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was held at Greenlawn Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, September 4, 2010. To celebrate her life, relatives and friends unable to attend sent their fond memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested Sally be honored with contributions to favorite cancer charities or Hospice.
Sally’s view of life can be summarized by her belief that “It’s not how you weather the storm but how you dance in the rain.”
