

RAPOSA – Mrs. Mary T. Raposa was born on September 2, 1921 to Domingos and Olivia DeCosta in Tiverton, RI She lived in Tiverton for most of her adult life and later moved with her husband, Arthur, to Jacksonville, Florida. She was a communicant of Holy Ghost Church in Tiverton and Resurrection Catholic Church in Jacksonville. She had been a member of the House of Israel Prayer Community.
Mary had been a seamstress, homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. In her leisure, she crocheted thousands of hats and afghans for the homeless community of Jacksonville. She prayed the Rosary daily, enjoyed Dunkin Donuts, caring for her little cats and bird, and spending time with her children and grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as VaVo, Voie, VoPosie, Big Vavo and Vavo 2.
Mary Raposa was truly blessed. She entered into eternal life on June 6, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Raposa, her parents, sisters and brothers. She is survived by her children, Ronald Raposa , Janet Price (Lide “Bud”), Sandra Soucy (Richard), Noreen Thurson (Tracy), and Joseph Raposa; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Wood and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
The Rosary will be recited at 9:15AM on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 3383 University Blvd. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM. Interment will be at Arlington Park Cemetery.
