Michael Winston Lovell

Michael Winston Lovell, Ph.D., 63, passed away November 18, 2016 following an extended illness. He was a 10-year resident of St. Johns, Florida. Dr. Lovell received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Analysis from the College of Pharmacy, University of Florida and a B.S. in Pharmacy (Cum Laude) from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Allied Health Sciences. He was co-founder and executive vice president of GLG Pharma, LLC, a Florida biotechnology company developing a new generation of targeted therapies (STAT3), licensed from the Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, Tampa Florida. He was the founder and President of AcraPharm Consulting, Inc., providing project management and technical consulting services to pharmaceutical and bio-tech companies. He held several key executive and scientific positions at companies such as Arthur D. Little, Abbott Laboratories, G. D. Searle and Bristol-Myers.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Lovell and Ula Chase Lovell, both of Rendezvous Road, Christ Church, Barbados; his brother, Arthur Lovell, of Takoma Park, Maryland; and his beloved granddaughter Emma Clark of Herndon, Virginia . He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Patrice Kathleen Lovell of St. Johns; his daughter, Christine Elizabeth Clark of Herndon, Virginia; three grandchildren, Andrew Scullion, Dylan Clark and Ethan Clark, all of Herndon, Virginia; and two great grandchildren, Bode and Marley Scullion of Herndon, Virginia. He is also survived by his sisters; Patricia Lovell and Ianthe Boucher, both of Barbados; his adoptive sister, Jennifer Johnson, of Toronto, Canada; and his loving nephew and niece, Kwame Arthur Lovell and Akilah Veronica Lovell, both of Maryland.

Visitation will be held from 6pm-8pm on Monday, November 28th, 2016 at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 29th at Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel.
