Michael Leroy Southern, 54, passed away January 8, 2014. He was born May 26, 1959 in Baltimore, MD to the late Robert and Betty Southern. He graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1977. Michael then went on to serve in the US Navy. From there, he started his own business, Southern Marine Service, as a marine mechanic. Michael loved spending time with his family, and will best be remembered as an awesome Dad, Brother, Grandfather, Husband and Uncle.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Tracey; daughters Amanda and Ashley; son, Jim (Amy); brothers, Rob (Kristi), Lee (Patti), and Jim (Melody); sisters, Cheryl and Debbie; granddaughters, Paige and Cameron; and soon-to-be-grandson, James Jr.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, January 12 from 2-4pm at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
