October 7, 1933 – May 22, 2025
With profound love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Mihal Jano(Mihali), who departed this life peacefully on May 22, 2025, at the age of 92. He was a man of dignity, quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering devotion to his family- a true pillar of those who were blessed to know him.
Mihal was born on October 7, 1933, in the village of Lashovë, Leskovik, Albania, to Ollga and Vangjo Mihali. Though he never had the chance to meet his father- who emigrated to France and later tragically died in an accident- Mihal was raised with strength and love by his mother and sister, Androniqi. From a young age, he showed remarkable responsibility and work ethic, traits that would define his life.
In 1956, Mihal married his beloved wife, Lefta Jano. Their marriage was built on deep respect, harmony and unconditional love. Together they raised two daughters, Mariana and Viollanda (Landa), and in 1960 the family moved to Durrës, where Mihal pursued various professions. His career included working as a Deputy Director for food supply at a military lodging property, as Payroll Manager, and as an Electrician overseeing the maintenance and repairs of the trains at the Durrës Railway Company. His hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed- he was recognized multiple times by government officials for his professionalism and contributions.
In 2004, Mihal and Lefta emigrated to the United States, first settling in Worcester, Massachusetts, surrounded by his daughter Mariana, her husband Pandi, and their son Martini with his wife Restilda. Later, Mihal moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he lived his final years in the loving care of his daughter Landa, her husband Ilirjan, and their sons Andi with his wife Anxhela, and Ivi with his wife Traci.
Mihal was a devoted husband, a nurturing father, a proud grandfather- “Shuke”- to Alex, Daniel, Zayden, Tristan, Aribelle, Michael, and Ryan. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews-Vasilika, Adriana, Petraq, and Ilir- and their families. He loved them as his own children and always spoke of them with warmth and pride.
A man of character, loyalty, and wisdom, Mihal had a remarkable ability to fix anything- there was no task too big or small. He had a creative spirit, a generous heart, and a quiet strength that drew people to him. His passions included sewing, cooking, gardening, and most of all, caring for his family. Though not a man of many words, when Mihal spoke, he shared stories filled with love, humor, hardship, and resilience.
He had a natural sense of humor and an infectious smile that lit up every room- a smile that was genuine, warm, and welcoming. He was a kind neighbor, a faithful friend, and a man who believed in doing the right thing, always. Though not a regular churchgoer, Mihal lived his Christian faith through his actions- showing grace, compassion, and humility in his everyday life.
Mihal lived a life of peace and love, driven by a deep belief in the blessings he had and the legacy he would leave behind. His life was well lived- rich with meaning, generosity, and quiet strength.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
As we say goodbye to Mihal, we carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and quiet grace. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with kindness and care. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved Lefta, and may his spirit continue to guide and inspire us every day.
