
SMITH -Millard Filmore Smith, Jr., a Jacksonville native, passed away on December 23, 2012 at the age 87. Mr. Smith was the son of Millard Filmore Smith and Myra Lee Smith of Jacksonville. He served in the U.S. Army and worked for three years in New York City before joining the Ford Motor Company District Office in Jacksonville, where he worked for 43 years. Millard and his long-time friend Maynard Munn later established a successful antiques business, Carriage House Antiques & Design, in Savannah, Georgia and Mount Dora, Florida. He returned to Jacksonville in 2005 to spend time with his family though even in retirement he continued to buy and sell antiques. He was a member of The River Club of Jacksonville and Assumption Catholic Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Georgia Parnell, his brother Glenn Allen Smith and his brother-in-law, Daniel B. Nunn, M.D. He is survived by his sister, Gloria Smith Nunn, his long-time friend Maynard Munn, nieces Myra E. Nunn, Ann Smith and Gloria Smith, nephews Andrew Smith Nunn, Daniel B. Nunn, Jr., Allen Smith and John Smith and many cousins in the Smith, Lee and Nunn families. Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock in the morning on Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Oaklawn Chapel with Pastor Dan Casselberry of Ortega United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. HARDAGE-GIDDENS, THE OAKLAWN CHAPEL, 4801 San Jose Boulevard is serving the family.
