Born on April 19, 1932, in Florahome, Florida, to Ernest and Louise Weeks, hard-working farmers who raised their family with strong values and deep love. Growing up one of eight children and often without much, they always had each other — and that meant everything. He and his siblings shared a close bond that lasted their entire lives.
As a young man, Milton joined the U.S. Army alongside his best childhood friend, hoping to build a brighter future. He served honorably and returned home determined to make the most of his life. After completing his tour of duty, he followed in the footsteps of an older brother and began a long and successful career as a big-truck driver.
He married his first wife, Eileen, and together they raised three terrific sons: Alan (Martha) of Jacksonville; David (Janet) of Hilliard; and Marron (Robin) of Crystal River.
Years later, Milton married Pat, who brought two daughters into his life: Theresa (Tony) Rainbolt and Michelle “Tinker” (Bobby) Nicholson of Jacksonville, whom he cherished and proudly considered his own.
For 55 years, the center of Milton and Pat’s hearts remained each other, working side by side buying, training, and selling horses while running their feed and tackle store on the corner of Hood and Old Saint Augustine Roads. Milton eventually returned to trucking, starting with a single truck and then steadily growing a successful local rail-seaport trucking company. He took great pride in the business they built together.
Above all, Milton’s greatest joy was his family. He was blessed with 8 amazing grandchildren: Alan, Angie, Micheal, Josh, Jessica, Jason, Andrew, and Heather — and with 11 super amazing great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Brayden, Tyler, Noah, Chloe, Jonah, Abraham, Waylan, Ruthie Jo, Tyler, and Jenna.
He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and business associates. He is survived by two siblings, J.H. and Louise.
Over the years, Milton formed lifelong friendships and carried a deep appreciation for the people who stood by him. Special mention goes to John Allen, his friend of 65 years; Carl Miskotten, 45 years; and Marvin Thole, 40 years. These friendships meant the world to him.
