Minnie Acuff Ponsell

Minnie Acuff Ponsell, 83, of Jacksonville passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017. Born in Bell County, Kentucky she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Grace Carns Acuff. Minnie moved to Jacksonville from Kentucky in 1954. She was a longtime member of Springfield Baptist Church where she served in many capacities over the years. Minnie enjoyed the game of golf and had been a member of the Jacksonville Women’s Golf Association, Deerwood Country Club and San Jose Country Club.

She is survived by her sisters, Blanche Wallace, Betty Oakley, Myrtle Shifflett and Shirley Braswell and brother, Utah Acuff. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Gilbert Ponsell, Jr. and six siblings.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 12:30 in the afternoon at Springfield Baptist Church, 1106 N Liberty St., Jacksonville, FL 32206 with Dr. Ken Rowe officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at Hardage – Giddens, Greenlawn Funeral Home.
